Benefits

Business Opportunities

The CAA promotes multi-family suppliers with important access to key decision makers through membership meetings, an annual golf tournament, an annual trade show, CAA membership list, committee involvement, Board of Directors representation and sponsorship opportunities.

Education

Participation in CAA meetings and educational seminars is a prime opportunity to stay apprised of industry trends and updates and training curriculum.  The CAA offers classes on a variety of topics for members to become certified and to maintain CECs.

Legislative Lobbying

In order to ensure an optimal environment for multifamily housing, legislative representation is critical.  On the local, state and national level – whether safety, environmental controls, and construction or management issues – the lobbyists who represent our industry actively work to protect key interests.

Charleston Cares

The Charleston Apartment Association also has a charitable arm called Charleston Cares. The intent of Charleston Cares is to support a specific charitable organization as decided on by the board of directors.  To achieve this mission the committee heads are responsible for developing a two year plan of focus.

The current focus for 2022-2023 is Entryway (frmly Shelters to Shutters).  Entryway is a national organization that transitions individuals and families out of homelessness to economic self-sufficiency by educating and engaging the real estate industry to provide employment and housing opportunities. They seek to change the trajectory of those experiencing homelessness in our country by providing two critical components — housing and employment.  $47,265 was raised in 2022-2023.   Click here to donate.

The focus for 2020-2021 was the Lowcountry Continuum of Care.  The Lowcountry Continuum of Care (CoC) is a membership body comprised of community services providers who plans, develops and implements comprehensive and coordinated strategies to address homelessness in our area. The Lowcountry CoC is governed by a Governing Council comprised of individuals representing our Continuum’s diverse geography and homeless services focus.  The staff of the CoC assist recipients who receive HUD funded homelessness services with ensuring their programs meet CoC requirements, implement Coordinated Entry, and manage the day to day requirements of the CoC.  $19,598 was raised in 2020-2021 for the Lowcountry CoC.  Click here to learn more about the organization.

In  2018-2019 the Back Pack Buddies program through the Lowcountry Food Bank was the charity focus.  Back Pack Buddies is designed to fight weekend hunger. Thousands of children in our community rely on free or reduced meals they receive at school. Children at partner schools who experience hunger are enrolled in the program and receive a backpack containing nutritious food to eat during the weekends each Friday during the school year.  $28,499 which equates to 170,994 meals was raised in 2018-2019.  Click here to donate.
