The Charleston Apartment Association's Government Affairs Committee's mission is to monitor legislation and regulations that affect our Industry on a local, state and national level and share that information with its Members to protect our interests.
This website will offer legislative information to you and address issues as they occur. We will work diligently to be proactive and we will reach out to the Members for their support.
A representative of the Government Affairs Committee will attend the National Apartment Association's Legislative Conference, held every March in Washington, DC, to be briefed on our current industry concerns, attend informative meetings with colleagues, and to meet with our Legislators on the Hill to address and educate them on our issues. We encourage our CAA Members to get involved and join us in our representation. The wealth of knowledge that you will receive and the impact that you will make is important and makes this a very worthwhile experience.
You can additionally read about the issues that currently concern the multifamily housing industry that the NAA/NMHC Joint Legislative Program has addressed this year including affordable housing, balanced housing policy, tax impacts, environmental regulations, and building codes. See the attached link for our 2010 legislative priorities.
Should you have any questions, concerns or issues, please send your correspondence to Donald Wood, Association Executive at Capital Consultants, and he will direct it to the Government Affairs Committee.
